It is official now: the next generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class will emerge in 2021, inheriting some technologies and features from the high-end S-Class / Maybach.
Among other things, the car will get a Level 3 autonomous driving system for easier highway driving. It will also get a remote, smartphone-controlled parking assist.
Unlike the current generation shown on the video here, the newcomer will be based on the MRA hybrid car architecture. A special C-Class All-Terrain estate/wagon will appear in the range for the first time, most likely equipped with AWD and other off-road upgrades (the MRA platform is said to provide full support for these).
The powertrains will be either mild-hybrid of PHEV, based on four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Performance versions will ship with 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engines also assisted by electric motors.
