Skoda introduced the latest generation of its Fabia hatchback in the spring of 2021, but an all-electric successor is already in development.
Speaking in an interview with Autocar, the CEO of the company admitted that the main hurdle was keeping the battery production costs low. As it stands now, an all-electric Fabia doesn’t shape up to be an affordable enough vehicle. Having said that, perhaps things will change by the year 2030, when the car is ripe for an update again.
From the point of view of the rest of the tech, everything seems to be already in place. The future car will be based on the MEB platform, bringing it close to the Volkswagen ID.2. Its design will be inspired by the recently introduced Vision 7S concept.
