The SSC Tuatara is currently considered the world’s fastest production car in terms of absolute top speed. One of the owners even took it to nearly 475 km/h (295 mph) last week (we reported). Now, it has been announced that an even more capable version is underway.
Speaking in a recent interview, the founder of the company pointed out that multiple new versions of the Tuatara were in development. One of those was an all-wheel-drive hybrid vehicle potentially capable of attaining greater accelerations.
In its current form, the Tuatara uses a 5.9-liter turbocharged V8 with 1,750 hp (1,775 PS / 1,305 kW). The entire momentum goes to the rear axle. Its new variant is expected to utilize two additional electric motors on the front axle.
The new Tuatara is penciled in for release in 2025, and the company admits it could debut under a new name to differentiate it from the predecessor.
