Eight years ago, the Suzuki Grand Vitara turned from a full-fledged SUV into a crossover and lost the ‘Grand’ prefix. The prefix makes its comeback now on an all-new hybrid vehicle for India and the African countries.
If you didn’t miss the announcement of the Toyota Urban Cruise Hyryder several days ago, you will notice that the newcomer is a clone of it with some different wheels and décor slapped on. The interior is also a little bit different, but not much.
In its premium trim levels, the new Grand Vitara has LED headlights, taillights and DRLs, alloy wheels, a two-tone exterior paint, a 9-inch infotainment and a premium audio system. Paying extra unlocks a HUD and a digital dashboard.
Those with economy in mind may grab it with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine rated at 103 PS (102 hp / 76 kW) and 137 Nm (101 lb-ft) of torque, which receives mild assistance from an electric starter-generator. Those who can spare a bit more will want to consider a PHEV with 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) at its disposal and up to 25 km (15.5 miles) of full-electric driving range.
