The new Suzuki Victoris shares much of its tech and features with the Grand Vitara, which is already available in India, but boasts a distinct appearance and larger dimensions, allowing the automaker to call it a new flagship.
Prices are pending, but observers agree that it will likely cost just a little more than the Grand Vitara, which currently starts from 1,142,000 and reaches 2,068,000 Indian Rupees.
Sized 4,360 x 1,795 x 1,655 mm large with a 2.6-meter wheelbase, the Victoris is only 15 mm (0.6”) longer and 10 mm (0.4”) taller than the Grand Vitara. It rides on 17-inch wheels and sports a compact radiator grille, boxy wheel arches and distinct headlights. All chrome parts can be replaced with black ones if you opt for a blackout package, and the roof can be ordered in a contrasting finish.
Depending on the spec, the Victoris can ship with eighter an analog or a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, an infotainment display either 7 or 10 inches large, HVAC and panoramic roof. Customers are choosing from multiple interior colors and one bi-color option. The Victoris is also Suzuki’s first vehicle for India to feature a Level 2 self-driving system.
There are quite a few powertrains to choose from as well. The entry-level spec relies on a 1.5-liter mild hybrid system churning out 103 PS (102 hp / 76 kW). It can go either manual or automatic and even supports AWD. The manual FWD version can be configured to support two fuel types, but it drops to 88 PS (87 hp / 65 kW) max in this version.
Going for a version called Strong Hybrid gives you a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, a starter-generator and a full-fledged electric motor. This spec maxes out at 116 PS (114 hp / 87 kW), but is restricted to a CVT and FWD.
