Toyota puts a premiere date on Century SUV

Toyota has posted a teaser on its official website announcing a new car reveal on Wednesday, September 6. There is no mention of its name, but the image confirms our suspicions that the newcomer is none other than the long-rumored Toyota Century SUV.

Whispers have been circulating for a while now that the Century sedan for Japan was going to be reborn as a crossover SUV. Spy shots of a car matching that description have been snapped on the streets, but Toyota has never confirmed working on it – until now.

The image shows someone in a black suit and white gloves opening the rear left door of the car. This lines up with the image of the Century as a luxury saloon designed to be chauffeured. At the same time, the c-pillar, the window line and the taillight make it clear that the car is an SUV.

Back when it premiered the next-gen Alphard and Vellfire minivans, Toyota showed us a glimpse of this vehicle on a presentation slide. One of the visitors of the event snapped a pic from one of the front rows – you can find it farther down the gallery here. At this point, we are almost completely convinced that the car scheduled for Sept. 6 premiere is the Century SUV.
