The new Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition for the USA references the motorsports nickname of the company’s CEO. Does it deliver the goods?
Apparently, yes. The five-door hot hatch ditches its rear sofa and some other cabin elements to be 30 kg (66 pounds) lighter than stock even with numerous structural reinforcements in place. The 1.6-liter turbo three-cylinder under the hood produces the same amount of power, but the torque goes from 370 to 400 Newton-meters (from 273 to 295 lb-ft). The iMT box benefits from tighter gear ratios.
Elsewhere, the track-focused Corolla boasts a low ride height, 18-inch BBS forged wheels, an exclusive exterior finish in Matte Steel, half-bucket seats, and Morizo’s autograph in the cabin.
Only 200 units will be available in the United States, and all pricing details are pending.
