Car Show
Papadakis Racing has shared a backstage video from an ad shoot involving a Toyota Supra, focusing on a 100ft (30-meter) stunt leap from a ramp.
The car had its stock 340-PS (335-hp / 250-kW) inline-six turbo for the stunt. It was additionally fitted with a roll cage and a bucket seat with multi-point safety harness. Some ballast made its way into the trunk to stabilize the car while airborne.
As you can see in the video, the pile of cardboard boxes proved not enough to stop the Supra, which proceeded to fall on its rear axle and break the rear suspension. It had to be towed away from the set.
The ad follows Gazoo Racing engineers as they think how they could best demonstrate the abilities of the car in a promotional video. Aside from the jump, they mention drifting, which was also performed by the Papadakis Racing crew. Finally, the footage also stars a Supra racer modified for participation in the Formula Drift series.
