Volkswagen may go under in two years unless saved, CFO warns

As Volkswagen Group is getting ready for some difficult talks with trade union reps in Germany, some executives do their best to keep the stakes high.

According to VW Group Chief Financial Officer Arno Antlitz, the entire car company may flounder and sink in two years’ time unless its employees approve an impending shutdown of two factories and don’t press charges.

Different interpretations can be drawn from this. Frankly, we suspect that Volkswagen is mainly concerned with the penalties and fines it is about to incur due to these sudden personnel cuts. By making the responsible authorities worried about its future, the company might be able to secure some guarantees for itself.
