Volkswagen is working on yet another full-size, fully electric SUV for the Chinese domestic market – the ID.Unyx 08. We saw it on 3D renderings last months, and the company has now followed up with actual live photos.
Despite the wrap, the vehicle looks unmistakably similar to its junior cousin the ID.Unyx 06 and the ID. Evo Concept (see video). It has frameless doors, flush handles, its own headlights and bigger taillights, but the overall proportions and design cues are the same as the ID. Evo.
From the technical perspective, the ID.Unyx 08 is based on an Xpeng platform with 800V power internals. The patent data suggests it is coming in two main variants – a RWD one with 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW) and an AWD one with 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW). Depending on the battery size and trim, range may vary from 630 to 730 kilometers (391–453 miles).
The interior remains to be shown, but it’s relatively safe to expect typical CDM things there, like multiple large touchscreens and a squared-off steering wheel.
Sales will begin in 2026.
