Large and luxurious Wey V9X readies itself for China premiere

Wey, an automaker and part of the Great Wall Motor Company, has posted the first images and technical specifications of its upcoming part-electric SUV flagship, the V9X. Once out, it will compete against the likes of Xpeng GX and Lixiang L9.

The vehicle depicted here sports a laconic and restrained profile with only minimal chrome accents. It has a LiDAR on the roof and can be optioned with a two-tone exterior finish. Dimensions amount to 5,299 x 2,025 x 1,825 mm (207 x 79.1 x 71.3 inches) with a wheelbase spanning 3,150 mm (123 inches).

The interior remains to be revealed, but earlier reports suggest there will be three rows of two individual seats per row. Buyers may look forward to traditional door handles and an AI-powered self-driving system. The SUV is the first to make use of the company’s GWM One platform and comes equipped with height-adjustable air suspension as standard.

A single 2.0-liter engine in the powertrain produces extra power for the two e-motors driving the wheels. Their parameters remain undisclosed, but Wey claims the V9X will be good for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in 4.4 seconds on a full battery pack. There will be two batteries to choose from, the larger 77.7-kWh pack reportedly enough for 363 km (225 miles) of all-electric range. Just five minutes of charging will be enough to replenish 200 km (124 miles) worth of charge.

All further info will become available this spring, most likely during the Auto China show in late April.
