Chinese automaker Tank has proceeded to the road test phase of its SUV named the 500. Autohome, the site that published the spy shots, says a special edition must be in the works. The company’s low-end SUV, the Tank 300, already has multiple such editions.
The main novelty can be found at the front end with its massive air intake in the hood, new headlights and a different radiator grille. The bumpers all around have been reworked and there are quad tailpipes at the rear.
The wheel arches are also camouflaged, which could mean that they will be flared. More wrap is seen on the right side of the tailgate, possibly put there to conceal the name of the special edition.
In China, the Tank 500 (see video) utilizes a 3.0-liter V6 with a mild-hybrid add-on, a nine-speed A/T and AWD. The output maxes out at 354 PS (349 hp / 260 kW).
