Xiaomi YU7 gets a 1,003-PS “GT” version

Xiaomi has patented a new flagship modification of its electric SUV, the YU7. It’s known as the GT and boasts a striking exterior in addition to a massively upgraded powertrain.

The new version is instantly recognizable thanks to its elaborate body kit, pronounced fenders, a muscular-looking hood and an aggressive rear diffuser. The whole exterior is kept in a single matte-black finish with only minimal accents, such as red brake calipers and 21-inch wheels with CNC-machined spokes. Having said that, Xiaomi points out that most exterior colors and details can be customized for a premium.

Powertrain is where the biggest changes lie. As you may remember, the previous flagship of the YU7 family – the Max – could hit the wheels with up to 690 PS (681 hp / 507 kW) using its dual motors. The GT ups the game to 1,003 PS (989 hp / 738 kW).

As a result, the GT can attain a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), coming well ahead of the Max with its 253 km/h (157 mph). Battery specifications are pending, but the longest-range YU7 on the market right now can do 835 km (518 miles) per charge.

CarNewsChina expects the YU7 GT to go on sale in a few months priced from 450,000 CNY (just under U.S. $65,000).
