Hyperion XP-1 Concept to reach the market as the Hyperion X1

Hyperion has confirmed that its XP-1 Concept introduced this summer is going to be released in a batch of 300 units renamed to just “X1”. Given the popularity of hydrogen vehicles as the current best alternative to the traditional and electric cars, one could expect it to sell out quickly.

The X1 impresses with its muscular exterior and original design direction. Two counter-force elements ensure perfect cornering performance in sharp, fast curves, and double as solar panels that can rotate to align themselves with the sum for maximum efficiency.

According to the official source, the model packs AWD and a three-speed gearbox. It can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in lightning-fast 2.2 seconds and only maxes out at 356 km/h (221 mph). However, perhaps the most compelling feature is the range, which is reported as 1,000 miles (1,609 kilometers). If you consider that a full refuel takes mere five minutes, such autonomy appears truly impressive.

Production is scheduled to begin later this year.
