Aston Martin DBS Says goodbye with one last convertible edition

Automaker Aston Martin continues churning out collection-worthy DBS spin-offs prior to the permanent retirement of the car. Following the Ultimate Coupe released early this year (see video), the company has now rolled out the open-top Volante Ultimate. Both share the marque’s most powerful engine in history, but while there are 300 coupes, there will be only 199 convertibles – and those are already sold out.

Like its fixed-top counterpart, the droptop utilizes a 5.2-liter V12 boosted to a higher pressure than ever before. This lets it produce 770 PS (759 hp / 566 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque and drive the wheels through a tuned eight-speed A/T and LSD.

The coupe needs 3.4 seconds to go 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph), while the convertible manages the same sprint in 3.6 seconds. Both can reach 340 km/h (211 mph).

On the outside, the Volante Ultimate stands out thanks to its hood and fender intakes, special 21-inch wheels and a modified front splitter. It also boasts new side sill extensions and a serial number plaque in the cabin. The buyers will be able to customize their cars extensively.

The assembly has already begun, and the first cars are due to be shipped in Q3 2023.
