Bugatti reveals the Bolide in its full glory

The extreme Bugatti Bolide is currently running dynamic performance tests before production start. The concept of the hypercar emerged back in 2020 (see video), but this is the first time we get to look at official photos of the production model.

Based on the photos, the test car has many unconventional aerodynamic parts on, but generally looks much like its conceptual predecessor. There are added air intakes here and there and other minor design revisions, but that’s it.

Compared to the Chiron it is based upon, the Bolide boasts an all-new body, tweaked suspension, a new interior trim scheme and – possibly – more engine power than ever. The company also aims to keep its weight minimal while maximizing steering ease.

The Bolide will be heavily track-focused and likely not street-legal. It may also end up being the fastest and lightest Chiron-based hypercar ever. The first prototype came powered by the company’s signature 8.0-liter W16 engine quad-turbo’d to 1,850 PS (1,825 hp / 1,361 kW). It could sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.17 seconds and ultimately reach 500 km/h (310 mph).

Later on, the manufacturer de-boosted the engine to 1,600 PS (1,578 hp / 1,177 kW) to save owners the trouble of looking for racing-grade fuel. It remains unknown what fuel type (or types) the final production car will support.

Only 40 vehicles will be made. The entire production run has already been sold out despite the €4,000,000 starting price. The first examples will be delivered no sooner than late 2023.
