Imagine being Shaquille O’Neal and loving luxury cars, but not being able to fit into most of them! This is exactly the problem the NBA superstar faced when he decided to retire and dedicate his later years to vehicle collecting. Tired of this injustice, he commissioned a very special Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 from Effortless Motors that would accommodate his 7’1” (216 cm) tall frame.
It took almost half a year to deliver. The aftermarket company had to stretch the mid-engined sports car by 20 inches (half a meter) to create enough legroom. It never revealed any details about the build, but it looks like a new body section was added just behind the seats – you can spot the seam if you look close enough. No other changes were mentioned, and the price was never made public.
In his latest video, O’Neal can be seen sitting in the driver’s seat with his head almost level with the roofline. The top is off, so he seems to be just about able to see the road ahead. Still, one has to wonder whether putting the top back in place would make it impossible for him to drive his custom ‘Vette. It is a very low-slung sports car, after all.
