Mopar adds $21,807 V8 6.2 Hellcrate Redeye crate engine to the list

The engine that first powered the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye in 2018 is now available for purchase in a crate form.

Dodge also used the mill in its SRT Super Stock series shown in our gallery and the video here, supercharging it from 808 to 819 PS (797 – 808 hp; 594 – 602 kW, respectively). The peak torque amounts to 959 Nm (707 lb-ft).

The regular, non-Redeye Hellcrate engine has been on sale for a while and costs $20,215. It churns out 717 PS (707 hp / 527 kW) along with 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque. The Redeye version launched today boasts increased supercharger volume (2.7L instead of 2.4L) and pressure (1 Bar vs. 0.8 Bar). The cut-off mark now sits at 6,500 RPM instead of 6,200 RPM.

As an alternative, you could buy an entry-level Challenger Redeye with the same 808-hp engine for $72,295. The mill comes with a 90-day warranty and does not dethrone Mopar’s flagship Hellephant 7.0 crate engine, which comes priced at $29,995 and pumps out 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 745 kW) along with 1,288 Nm (950 lb-ft) of torque.

According to FCA CEO Timothy Kuniskis, all Dodge-branded cars produced starting from 2021 will ship with 700+ hp (522+ kW) under the hood. The Durango SUV received such a version not long ago, and the lower-end Grand Caravan and Journey models will soon be discontinued.
