If this spy vid is any indication, Dodge is already working on a TV ad for its upcoming Charger Sixpack. The turbocharged, non-electrified muscle car is expected to debut in the coming days or weeks at most.
The video was filmed in Detroit and shows a red car charging down a street and sliding neatly into a corner. It is accompanied by a quadcopter and a patrol SUV, suggesting that the police closed off a section of the city grid for the shoot. You can also hear the engine in action.
Dodge didn’t really have any plans for a Hurricane I6 Charger when it was still eyeing a fully electric future, but the Charger Daytona EV was a complete sales flop. While all technical specifications remain to be confirmed, most of us agree that the car in the video packs a Hurricane-series inline-six engine normally available in two variants – 426 and 558 PS (420 and 550 hp; 313 and 410 kW, respectively). A ZF automatic transmission and optional AWD are also high on our list of expectations.
Even after all the discounts and incentives, the Charger Daytona EV currently starts from just under $62,000. The Sixpack should be much, much more affordable than that. Motor1.com speculates that it could start in the general vicinity of $40,000, which we find quite plausible.
