Ferrari Purosangue breaks cover with 725 PS, four seats, class-leading top speed

The long-anticipated Ferrari Purosangue is here at last. The Italian company insists on not calling its most utilitarian vehicle so far an SUV, and it kind of looks more like a cross-hatchback at a closer glance.

The Purosangue shares the design with other modern Ferrari cars and is 4,973 millimeters (194.2 inches) long with 3,018 mm (117.9 inches) of wheelbase. The trunk volume is 473 liters, or 16.7 cubic feet.

From the technical point of view, the FUV (Ferrari Utility Vehicle) is a four-seater with automatic rear-hinged doors and two separate seats in the back row.  Its Multimatic active suspension system uses four 48V motors for rapid adjustment, dropping the clearance by up to 10 mm (0.4 inches) in fast corners.

The power originates from a 6.5-liter V12 rated at 725 PS (715 hp / 533 kW) and 716 Nm (528 lb-ft) of torque, which drives all four wheels through an eight-speed DCT. The super-SUV needs 3.3 seconds to hit 100 km/h and 10.6 to double that acceleration. The top speed exceeds 310 km/h (192 mph) and can be considered class-leading – as long as you ignore the manufacturer’s pleas not to consider the Purosangue as an SUV-class car, that is.
