Ford Everest Tremor Edition gears up for the wilderness

The Australian branch of Ford has unveiled the most off-road-capable variant of its Everest SUV so far, the Tremor. It looks markedly different from the standard version (see video) and leverages its body-on-frame design more efficiently when going off the grid.

On the exterior side of things, the Everest Tremor has a distinct radiator grille with a sparse mesh pattern, stainless-steel protection all around, reinforced running boards and black wheels shod in General Grabber AT3 tires. It wears a special paint coat called Command Grey and has special edition badges in orange all around.

The suspension gets an overhaul with new springs and Bilstein coilovers. Together with the new wheels, it raises the ground clearance by 26 mm (1 inch). A new drive mode called Rock Crawl has been added, similar to the Ranger Raptor.

Open the door, and you will find leather seats with the word “Tremor” embossed on them, black trim and all-weather mats. The base spec here is Sport, which implies power adjustments for the driver’s seat and a two-zone climate control system.

Customers in Australia can order their Everest with an entry-level 2.0-liter diesel engine, but the Tremor package isn’t available for that version. It requires the top-end 3.0-liter diesel V6 version of the truck, which sends 250 PS (247 hp / 186 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels through a ten-speed AT.

The production will begin in November this year. Prices will start from 76,590 AUD. This makes the newcomer more expensive than the Ranger Tremor pickup for the local market, but still not as pricey as the posh Everest Platinum.
