Honda is offering its Kei microcar called N-Van in two flavors: as a passenger van and as a utility van. Both had been running exclusively on petrol until recently, but now, customers in Japan can buy a fully electric version.
The company claims that the N-Van EV is ‘every bit as practical’ as its ICE counterpart, but the technical specifications remain to be revealed.
On the outside, the EV looks nearly identical to the regular N-Van except for the fake radiator grille housing a charging port.
Inside, there is a new digital dashboard and a new HVAC control panel. The gear selector is button-based.
The traction battery is mounted under the floor of the Kei car so as not to reduce the available space. The only number revealed so far is range: 210 km, or 130 miles, per charge. An auxiliary power socket is provided for powering external appliances, and the brakes are made a bit stronger in the EV version to compensate for its greater weight.
