Jeep Grand Wagoneer revs up for a facelift

Jeep has posted the first photos and videos of an updated Grand Wagoneer. The off-roader sports a drastically revised front fascia and what looks like a charging port in the front left fender, so it could be a hybrid.

Overall, the vehicle still looks like any other modern Jeep, but the refreshed front end brings it closer to the high-tech aesthetic of the Wagoneer S. Among other things, the headlights are all-new and the radiator grille looks much smaller. It also trades the classic seven slits for illuminated vertical bars. The bumper is looking rather massive and has a comparable air intake in it. The hood lettering now simply says “Jeep” instead of “Grand Wagoneer”.

The company has yet to reveal what the function of the fender lid is, but we assume it conceals a charging port. The SUV has never been available as a hybrid before, but we suppose the company could source the powertrain for it from the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which actually shares lots of components with the Grand Wagoneer.

If this happens, the SUV will utilize a 3.6-liter V6 alongside two electric motors jointly rated around 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW). The Hurricane inline-six turbo with 540 PS (533 hp / 397 kW) should also be an option, and a V8 is also expected to become available now that Stellantis tries to step back from its failed downsizing and electrification strategy.

The full reveal may take place this fall, most likely at the LA Auto Show in November.
