The refreshed compact crossover enjoys the same range of visual updates as its European and Korean cousins while getting rid of PHEV and BEV powertrain options.
In its 2027 model year version, the Kia Niro comes equipped with softer suspension, enhanced noise proofing and a more capable ADAS package. Customers can still choose from the three standard trim levels known as the LX, EX and SX, as well as a new one called the S. Some things, like the dual-12.3-inch dash display arrangement seen in the gallery above, are included as standard.
With the plug-in hybrid and all-electric options removed from the lineup, the new Kia Niro now relies on a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW) and an electric motor capable of 44 PS (43 hp / 32 kW) for propulsion. They produce a combined 141 PS (139 hp / 104 kW) and 264 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque, sending it to the front axle. Getting from standstill to 96.6 km/h (60 miles per hour) takes 10.7 seconds.
The sales should begin later this summer, Kia says. All prices are pending. You can get a current base-spec Niro HEV from $27,390 or top-spec from $35,790.
