Video: Koenigsegg CEO praises practicality of the Gemera hypercar

The Koenigsegg Gemera may be a multi-million hypercar revealed barely half a year ago, but as the CEO of the company proves in this video, it is quite utilitarian and even family-friendly.

Although getting into a rear seat is no easy feat – this is still a mid-engined supercar we are talking about – the footage shows just how easily four two-meter (6’6”) tall men fit inside. “It has always been my dream as a child,” admits Christian von Koenigsegg.

He then proceeds to quote the specs, which we already know. The road racer’s three-cylinder gasoline engine and triple electric motors team up to produce 1,700 hp (1,250 kilowatts) along with 3,500 Nm (2,580 foot-pounds) of torque, taking the car from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under 2 seconds and then all the way to 400 km/h (248.5 mph).

The next part is dedicated to the trunks: the frunk can hold one modest-sized suitcase, while the rear trunk liberally accommodates three. The inside boasts as many as eight cup holders with heating and cooling functions. The seats take advantage of memory foam filling, while rear passengers get their own multimedia system.

The Gemera will be emerging in a series of 300 units – more than all previous Koenigsegg vehicles combined (Agera RS: 25; Regera: 80; Jesko 125).
