EV maker Lucid has come to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with the Gravity X, a new take on its Gravity electric crossover outfitted for some moderate cross-country driving.
The experimental vehicle received extra equipment to make it viable for weekend trips into the wilderness. Among other things, Lucid raised the ground clearance and put beefier tires along with new staggered wheels into the arches. The front axle now has 21-inch rims, while the rear axle boasts bigger 22-inch rollers.
Some plastic lower body trim was applied all around, and towing hooks appeared in the front bumper. Last but not least, a low-drag roof box with an integrated LED strip was added.
No changes were made to the electric powertrain. The Gravity X drives both axles with a combined 839 PS (828 hp / 617 kW). It uses the same 123-kWh battery pack as the stock SUV. The stock version sprints 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.4 seconds and covers 724 kilometers (450 miles) per charge. The X spec may be a tad slower due to all the terrain-friendly mods, but likely not by much.
At the time of writing this, Lucid still hasn’t revealed its plans for the EV. We don’t know if it’s a one-off, a special edition or an upgrade kit for the standard SUV. Then again, the mods look straightforward enough for enthusiasts to simply order and install on their own.
The Lucid Gravity went into production in the United States in late 2024. It was announced in two main specs, with the $94,900 First Edition spec shipping exclusively for the first several months.
