Mercedes-AMG duo poised to sell for $3.4M

RM Sotheby’s will be selling a pair of exclusive Mercedes-AMG supercars, one of them bearing the title of the fastest road-going car on the Nürburgring. The bundle is expected to go for U.S. $2.75–3.4 million.

One of the two cars is a Mercedes-AMG One, a uniquely successful attempt to adapt a Formula vehicle – the Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid – for road use. The AWD car has a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 installed in a transaxle fashion and revving up to 11,000 RPM. The tiny racing engine delivers 576 PS (568 hp / 424 kW) and needs a complete overhaul once every 50,000 km (31,000 miles), or sooner than that if needs be.

A quartet of electric motors drive the wheels in pairs, ramping up the combined output to 1,063 PS (1,048 hp / 782 kW). Outfitted like this, the car reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and can attain a top speed of 352 km/h (218 mph). The Mercedes-AMG One holds the Nürburgring lap record among production cars with a lap time of 6 minutes 29.090 seconds. Only 275 units have been produced for the global market (see video).

The other entry is a Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Project One Edition, a rare version that was only available to those who had prepaid their AMG One years in advance. It is believed to be one out of only 40 such vehicles in existence. The turquoise accents in the exterior are a nod to the iconic AMG Petronas livery. The 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 is standard and produces 730 PS (720 hp / 537 kW).

The AMG One is being sold with 274 kilometers (170 miles) on the odometer. Active OEM warranty covers it through March 2027, the listing claims. In turn, the GT Black Series has 3,477 km (2,160 miles) under its belt.
