World’s only Rolls-Royce Silver Spectre Shooting Brake heading to auction

A unique Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe rebuilt into a completely different-looking car will cross the auction block at RM Sotheby’s on March 9 expected to sell for $275,000–325,000. The companies that worked on it spent a year and a half on the project and invested over 2,500 hours of manual labor into it.

As far as we understand, it was a collaboration between Niels van Roij Design (Netherlands) and Carat Duchatelet (Belgium). The idea was to revive the aesthetics of Shooting Brake classics dating back to the distant 1930s. The transformation saw the Wraith stripped of its entire bodywork and outfitted with an all-new body made from carbon fiber and composites. The tuners even went through the pain of replacing the entire glass dome and highlighting the result with a silvery bezel.

A spacious trunk area was implemented in the back along with a hidden luggage compartment beneath the floor. Other than that, the interior has stayed largely stock, unless you count the added LED headliner made up from nearly 2,000 “stars”.

Some work has been performed on the stock 6.6-liter V12 as well, dialing the output up to 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW) and 900 Nm (662 lb-ft) of torque. The listing doesn’t mention any acceleration times, but we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the Shooting Brake is faster than the coupe with its standard 0-100 km/h launch time of 4.4 seconds.

The tuners’ original plans involved making seven such cars. It’s hard to say whether it was due to its controversial appearance, but the Silver Spectre Shooting Brake was met with mixed reviews and ultimately remained a one-off. It is now heading to auction with just under 18,000 km (a touch over 11,100 miles) on the odometer.
