Toyota ponders a unibody pickup for the USA

Reports are coming in that Toyota is actively considering releasing a compact-sized truck in the United States based on a simple unibody platform.

The CEO of the North American branch of the company confirmed in a recent interview that Toyota was indeed interested in producing such a vehicle. He declined further comment, but pointed out that electrifying a small unibody pickup would be much easier than a traditional body-on-frame truck.

At this moment, the U.S. market only offers the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz in this segment, although different small trucks are available in other countries around theworld.
