Hennessey drops another 200 horses into the Ram TRX Mammoth

The range-topping Ram 1500 TRX packing a supercharged V8 is no longer in production, but Hennessey Performance continues releasing tuning kits for it. The latest one ramps up the engine output to a ridiculous 1,217 PS (1,200 hp / 895 kW).

A few years ago, the company came up with an upgrade package called Mammoth 1000 that boosted the output from the standard 712 PS (702 hp / 524 kW) to 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW). It also included assorted off-road options.

The new package is known as Mammoth 1200 and ditches the off-road stuff to maximize its straight-line performance. It gets an upgrade supercharger with better pulleys, an improved thermostat and sportier spark plugs. You will have to pour in E85 fuel to see the peak output, but the truck should still make over 1,000 horsepower on pump gas.

Check out the two videos for a closer look at the project and to see the Ram TRX outracing a Chevy Corvette Z06 on a quarter-mile strip. The Corvette weighs much less and cuts a better figure from the aerodynamic perspective, but its 680 PS (670 hp / 500 kW) are no match for the insane truck.
