Porsche has taken a new Taycan to the Nürburgring, Autoevolution reports posting a handful of spy shots. The electric sports car looks about as hardcore as they get and appears to be wearing an aerodynamic package from Manthey Racing.
Based on the pics, it’s a Taycan Turbo GT flagship spec additionally equipped with the OEM Weissach package. The aero parts are different, though, and while they may remind you of the 911 GT3 RS, there are obvious Manthey Racing components among them.
These include a low-drag front bumper with larger air intakes and canards at the sides, as well as a large rear wing and a track-ready diffuser. 21-inch wheels sit in flared arches, and some of the photos allow a glimpse inside the cabin. There’s a bucket seat on the driver’s side and a roll semi-cage where the rea bench used to be.
Autoevolution believes that the new Taycan will feature upgraded suspension and brakes, and possibly electronics as well. These new options will likely be exclusive to the Taycan Turbo GT spec and may cost upwards of U.S. $100,000. If true, it may drive the cost of Porsche’s all-electric track car up to $300,000 and beyond.
Porsche has yet to announce this new Taycan or even acknowledge its existence. Still, if we had to guess why it was made in the first place, we’d point out that Xiaomi disrupted the market quite badly with its SU7. Upping its own electric game may be one way for the Wolfsburg sports car maker to stay profitable.
