This Lexus LS special edition could be its last

The Lexus LS Heritage Edition is coming to the U.S. market in a batch of 250 units, inspired by the first generation of the flagship sedan from 36 years ago. All other LS variants have been delisted in North America, suggesting that its time may be coming to an end.

Compared to the standard car (see video), the Heritage Edition combines a rich metallic black exterior with a red leather cabin never offered in any LS version before. The seats wear embroidered badges, and there is a special emblem etched into the center console. Other than that, things stay largely stock. Prices in the United States start from $99,300.

The trim level is about as high as it gets with exclusive 20-inch wheels, panoramic top, heated seats in both rows, a 23-speaker Mark Levinson audio system and a full package of ADAS. The 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 under the hood continues to churn out 421 PS (416 hp / 310 kW). A 10-speed automatic transmission uses a Torsen interaxle differential to deliver the torque to all four wheels.

The current, fifth generation of the LS reached production in 2017 and was facelifted in 2020. Lexus never said outright that it was the final special edition before the end of production, but we strongly suspect so.
