Alpina will become an integral part of BMW in 2026, but in the meantime, the famous customizer is free to pursue its projects – and here is the latest one, the Alpina B5 GT.
The abbreviation has nothing to do with Gran Turismo – it is essentially just a mildly refreshed version of the existing B5 S model (watch the video for an overview). The donor in both cases is the BMW M550i.
From the drivetrain perspective, the B5 GT is Alpina’s most powerful car in history. Its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 churns out 634 PS (625 hp / 466 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque to an upgraded eight-speed A/T. That said, the source car was barely different with 621 PS (613 hp / 457 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. This means that the sprint times remain the same: the sedan-shaped B5 GT still needs 3.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill, and the wagon needs 3.6 seconds.
The base spec now includes paddle shifters and premium leather trim on the seats. The center tunnel carries a serial number plaque, and the number doesn’t go above 250 – this is how many units Alpina will make in total.
Prices start from €145,500.
