Alpina finalizes merger with BMW Group

Starting on January 1, 2026, the Alpina badge is officially regarded as a department of BMW, same as M Performance.

The former tuning company has updated its lettering (see the image above) and will be applying a corresponding badge to all of its vehicles going forward. Just what those vehicles will be and when to expect them remains to be announced.

Another interesting question is how exactly Alpina is going to differentiate itself from the Bavarian automaker’s current offerings. BMW promises us “a distinct driving character”, “extra performance” and “lots of exclusive options for comfort.” The former two points sound like something M Performance has been doing for decades, so we suppose comfort and luxury might become Alpina’s main priorities from now on.

One of the company’s more recent works is the XB7 SUV (see video).
