Japanese automaker Aspark, famous for its all-electric hypercar Owl, has reported smashing through a peak acceleration record with a prototype vehicle known as the SP600.
It allegedly managed to hit 438.7 km/h (272.6 miles) on electric power alone, breaking the record set by the Rimac Nevera two years ago. However, the record is by no means official just yet – the Nevera is a production car, while the SP600 is not.
Italian automaker Manifattura Automobili Torino handled the design for Aspark this time around. No official specifications have been disclosed for the car so far. As for the Owl, it has a manufacturer-stated top speed of 400 km/h (248 mph).
Two years ago, Rimac took its Nevera EV to the Papenburg racetrack where it managed to hit 412 km/h (256 mph). The SP600 was tested on the same track.
