Alpina’s founding family unveils its luxury take on the BMW M5 wagon

As you probably know, Alpina’s formal inclusion into BMW Group prompted the family that founded the original tuning brand to spin off a new atelier, Bovensiepen. It debuted last year with a supercar called the Zagato (see video), and has now followed up with a second project based on the latest BMW M5 Touring.

There’s no mistaking the car for stock thanks to its enlarged front air intake, longer side sills, a redesigned rear bumper and a different rear spoiler. The arches are occupied by 21-inch lightweight rims shod in Pirelli-branded “BOV” tires developed specifically for this project.

As any self-respecting Alpina, this M5 pays special attention to suspension tuning. Eibach springs, upgrade strut braces and shock absorbers moved to alternate mounting points improve the ride quality across the board, Bovensiepen claims.

The interior comes wrapped in high-end natural leather from Lavalina. Nearly every visible surface that may come into contact with the driver or the passengers is trimmed, including even the iDrive controller panel.

Last but hardly least, the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood enjoys a range of software tweaks that bolster its output to 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque. A titanium-alloy exhaust system by Akrapovič helps with the soundtrack while providing a marginal reduction in unsprung weight.

There’s no mention of how fast the Bovensiepen 05 GT is off the line, and all pricing details are private.
