Car Tuning
German tuning company Manhart has arranged a quarter-mile race between two unlikely contenders. A part-electric BMW XM went up against a lightweight M4 CSL.
The luxury soft-roader underwent extensive tuning to be able to send 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) to the wheels along with 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque. The coupe also received some modifications, but for a less extreme result of 702 PS (692 hp / 516 kW) and 880 Nm (649 lb-ft).
On the track, the scales really tip in favor of the M4, which weighs 1,100 kilograms (2,425 pounds) less than its rival. But will it be able to realize this advantage?
Manhart conducted three tests in total – a standing race, a rolling race and a brake test. What surprised us is how well the XM Label Red handled the latter –it actually came to a halt sooner than the M4 CSL did! As for the rest, you’d be better off just watching the 13-minute video.
