You can get this Bugatti Chiron for a song, but there’s a catch

The Bugatti Chiron pictured here costs $345,000 USD to buy, a small fraction of its $2.9 million starting price. The reason? It partially burned down.

The photos reveal that the front left fender, the hood, the driver’s door and the glass were affected the most. Leftover blotches of something resembling firefighting solution can be seen on the bodywork and the interior trim.

Rebuilding the hypercar to its original condition would probably cost a fortune, and not a small one at that. Still, the seller claims that the drivetrain was unaffected and that all key units and components function as they should, including the W16. We still suspect that much of the wiring may need replacement, and probably other important peripherals, too.

Road and Track believes that buying a car like this for an asking price like this has to be a sound decision, because restoring it would pay off in any case. As a last resort, it could be salvaged for the world’s craziest engine swap project or something.

Unofficial reports say this particular Chiron belonged to El Alfa, a Dominican singer whose hypercar caught fire in Miami in a suspected arson incident.
