Cadillac XT5 & XT6 become mild hybrids in China

The China-spec Cadillac XT5 and XT6 can now be obtained with a mild-hybrid powertrain composed of a turbocharged four-pot and a starter-generator that aids it during the initial acceleration.

The gasoline engine churns out 237 PS (234 hp / 174 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, while the electric add-on plugs into the 48V on-board power grid to contribute 10 PS (10 hp / 7.5 kW) and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) of its own.

As a result, the front-wheel-drive XT5 hits 100 km/h (62 mph) within 8 seconds from the launch, and the XT6 does the same in 8.6 seconds. Their AWD counterparts are marginally slower on the uptake with 8.3 and 8.8 seconds, respectively. Both utilize a nine-speed auto transmission and hit their limit at 210 km/h (130 mph).

Compared to its ICE counterpart, the electrified XT5 consumes 5% less fuel. The XT6 burns 6% less gas. In hard numbers, mixed-cycle fuel consumption drops to 7 and 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers, respectively (33.6 and 32.6 MPG in Imperial units). The battery comes sized 0.45 kWh in both cases.

Aside from the above, the SUVs gain improved Cadillac User Experience infotainment systems, while the XT6 additionally gets a golden exterior paint option.

The part-electric XT5 costs between 332,700 and 472,700 Yuan in China, and the XT6 retails for 392,700 – 552,700 Yuan.
