Changan Qiyuan Q05 EV: first photos

Changan’s next electric crossover will belong to the Qiyuan lineup and have the model designation Q05. Sales will begin in November with prices currently estimated between 110,000 and 130,000 Yuan.

This is a bit confusing because Changan already has a “Q05” model that’s a hybrid. According to AutoHome.cn, the EV doesn’t have much in common with it – in fact, it is based on a different platform and doesn’t support any non-electric powertrains. They also look different – for example, the electric version has stacked headlights, sporty hood and bumper outlines, and distinct c-pillars. Just why both are called “Q05” is anyone’s guess.

The new Qiyuan is a fairly compact vehicle at 4,435 x 1,855 x 1,600 mm (173.2 x 72.5 x 62.5 inches) large with 2,735 mm (106.8 inches) of wheelbase. The automaker mentions a “new, state-of-the-art platform”, but doesn’t provide any details.

The only motor announced thus far sends 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) to one axle. Batteries come in two sizes – 40.29 and 51.91 kWh. The former is good for 405 km (251 miles) of range and the latter for 506 km (314 miles), manufacturer-rated.
