Rhino Racing, a car company based in Kaunas, Lithuania, has unveiled a mid-engine sports coupe named RR01. It has obvious McLaren and Porsche styling cues and starts from a low €25,000 as a kit car that you are supposed to assemble yourself. Note that an engine is not included, and going with the OEM-suggested option will set you back another €37,500.
The car is street-legal but track-focused. It consists of an aluminum monocoque, a steering mechanism, dual-wishbone suspension with racing-grade shocks, GFRP body kit and only a bare minimum of interior parts. The idea is that the buyers will create their own vehicle based on this starter’s kit.
For an extra €27,500, you will get an entry-spec car plus a complete engine prep package including such bare necessities as a fuel tank and a cooling system. AP Racing six-piston brakes and LED lights are also included in this version, as well as a couple of bucket seats and racing dash gauges.
Another €37,500 will buy you a 5.2-liter V10 based on the Audi R8 mill but upgraded with brand-new racing internals, Rhino Racing claims. It produces a healthy 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) and comes bundled with the mounting hardware, a sequential gearbox and a limited-slip differential.
The first DIY kit cars are expected to ship in August-September 2024.
