Eventuri solves a Corvette ZR1 power issue you’d never guess it had to begin with

The latest Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and its electrified cousin the ZR1X hardly need any extra power or torque, but UK-based firm Eventuri still found a way to dramatically improve its mid-range hp gains.

Working with the U.S.-based shop Paragon Performance, the company developed a new carbon-fiber air intake that’s already available for ordering for $3,595. Unlike the standard part, the aftermarket intake works like a velocity stock, keeping the air temperature low even during prolonged use. The addition of a pre-preg material to the carbon drastically improves heat insulation, reliably isolating the intake from any hot air lingering in the engine bay.

This may sound good in theory, but the two tuning companies claim they have actually dyno-tested the upgrade with stellar results. With a Corvette ZR1X on the dyno, the engine’s mid-range gains amounted to a spectacular 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW) at the wheel, while the peak output rose by 36 PS (36 hp / 26 kW). That’s impressive for a car already as capable as the ZR1X, and may be indicative of the standard intake bottlenecking its performance.

The first deliveries in the United States are planned for mid-May. Once the first production batch is sold out, the next one is expected to arrive in mid-June.

In case you needed a reminder, the regular ZR1 model commands 1,080 PS (1,064 hp / 793 kW) and 1,123 Nm (828 lb-ft) of torque. With the optional aero kit installed, it can attain a top speed of 375 km/h (233 mph). Prices start from $185,000 before the destination fee.
