Four-eyed 1988 Cizeta-Moroder V16T going under the hammer in August

A pre-production copy of a 1988 Cizeta-Moroder V16T supercar, which then came out in a run limited to just nine vehicles, will be put up for auction in California next month.

You can watch the attached video for a demonstration of the production car or refer to the photos for the example on sale, which had once been owned by project investor and musician Giorgio Moroder – hence his last name on the rear end.

The Cizeta V16T emerged as a collaboration between famous designer Marcello Gandini and ex-Lamborghini engineer Claudio Zampolli. It features a six-liter, transversely mounted sixteen-cylinder engine and four pop-up headlamps.

The example on sale has the chassis number 001 and has been featured in various motor shows. Unlike its production counterparts, the prototype has larger air intakes, a different rear end, and a special cabin.

The mileage remains undisclosed, but the supercar spent its life in an enclosed space and was restored to peak condition three years ago.

Pricing stays likewise unannounced. Last fall, a Cizeta V16T with the chassis number 006, once owned by the Sultan of Brunei, went up with less than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) on the clock and an asking price of U.S. $750,000. There is no information on whether it was sold for that amount.
