Earlier rumors had claimed that Dacia was preparing a replacement for its small and affordable Spring EV. As it has now turned out, it wasn’t a replacement but a standalone model based on the Renault Twingo platform.
According to Automotive News, this new EV will offer a high-value, no-frills alternative to the Twingo, which implies it could cost even less. Unofficial sources speculate that it might start from a low €18,000 in Europe, but we probably won’t know for sure until the official reveal in Q2 2026.
Based on the teaser pic, the newcomer sports a simplified front end compared to the Twingo and also rocks an almost upright tailgate. The latter could give it a larger trunk, but with no interior photos at the time of writing, we have no way of telling for sure.
Like its donor, the still-unnamed Dacia EV will most likely rely on a single electric motor rated at 82 PS (81 hp / 60 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque for propulsion. The Twingo gets 262 km (163 miles) out of its 27.5-kWh battery pack, and we expect something similar to be the case here as well.
All production will be localized in Slovenia, unlocking various benefits for EU buyers.
