Ferrari never brought back its beloved 288 GTO model, so Manifattura Automobili Torino – the same team that revived the Lancia Stratos not long ago – decided to gave a go at it. Working with an F8 Tributo as the starting point, they showed us what the mid-engined supercar from the ‘80s could look like if it was re-released in our day and age.
The project was carried out with assistance from ZeroACento Automobili. The donor car had its entire body replaced with carbon-fiber panels tinted with red. New headlights with square DRLs were installed at the front, large vents were made in the hood cover, and the bumper was replaced with a much more pronounced one. Five-spoke centerlock wheels occupied the arches, and the entire rear end was overhauled from the bumper to the titanium exhaust tips.
The interior trim is black with red and brown accents. The transmission tunnel was reworked from scratch, the instruments were stylized to resemble those of the 288 GTO, and a climate control system with custom retro controls was installed for a bit of modern comfort.
Last but not least, the twin-turbo V8 under the hood was massaged to deliver 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW).
MAT never mentioned how much the 273 Potenza cost to make, but confirmed that there would be no other car like it.
