Fiat revives the Topolino moniker

The first generation of the Fiat 500 was informally known as the Topolino, and the company has now decided to resurrect the nameplate in a new supermini car release. It is actually a rebadged Citroen Ami with vintage styling cues, but little else of note.

The Topolino seen in the caption pic has been styled after the original 1957 Fiat 500 with its round headlamps and part-cloth top. Compared to the modern Citroen Ami shown in the rest of the gallery and video here, it has different wheels and lacks any kind of side doors or windows.

There are no cabin shots yet, although you can see a seat and a striped dashboard trim in the only render available thus far. If we were to assume that the model is a full technical twin of the Ami, then it will ship with an 8-horsepower (6-kW) engine and a 5.5-kWh traction battery enough for 70 kilometers (43.5 miles) of range.
