Too Much Aftermarket: Modded Bronco fails to reach $40k

A recent Cars & Bids auction dedicated to a new Ford Bronco off-roader customized by SoFlo Customs in Florida closed on $37,010, which turned out below reserve. It wasn’t necessarily a bad car, but the potential buyers weren’t swayed by the over-the-top styling.

The latter mostly refers to the Abyss Blue armoring layer seen covering the entire body of the Bronco. The windows are strongly tinted, and there is a massive eight-light bar on the roof for off-road driving. An aftermarket front bumper with integrated DRLs and 20-inch Silver Apoc wheels shod in 37-inch tires complement the controversial look, as does a 3.5-inch (90mm) suspension lift.

The interior is mainly trimmed with weather-resistant leather in brown and black, and the listing mentions an upgrade audio system on board. As for the 2.3-liter turbo four-pot, it’s apparently been tuned using an ECU chip and a blow-off valve, but it’s unclear how much this Bronco outputs to the wheels. It’s probably close to the standard 279 PS (275 hp / 205 kW) and 427 Nm (315 lb-ft) of torque.

The commenters on Cars & Bids likened the build to an amateurish 3D rendering or something straight out of a video game. One comment went as far as to wish the owner to “keep this and live with their horrible choices.” In other words, in a world where the rule number one about buying someone else’s project car is to refrain from doing so, expecting your stylistic vision to pay off is naïve at best.
