Supercar-rivaling Ford Fairlane restomod heads to auction

An old 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 tuned to ride and feel like a modern dragster will go under the hammer at a Mecum auction in September. Packing a 9.4-liter monster of an engine, it’s liable to bring home six figures.

Fincher Fab produced the chassis for the project, while Jon Kaase Racing built the engine based on a naturally aspirated Boss Nine V8 block. Depending on the configuration, this mill can deliver up to 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW) at the crank. A custom automatic transmission from Hughes Performance was entrusted with carrying the torque to the rear end, and the rear wheels were upgraded to ultra-wide 20x13-inch rollers.

With Wilwood performance brakes, Koni shock absorbers and four-link rear suspension, this Fairlane should handle much better than its historical counterpart ever did. The tuning company also restored its bodywork to pristine condition and replaced the hood with a custom version featuring a large engine hump. Last but not least, the interior was fully retrimmed and a roll cage appeared where the rear bench once was.

Check out the video for a reminder what a regular Ford Fairlane 500 from that era looks like.
