Ford has unveiled its most extreme Mustang modification so far. Called Dark Horse R, it is designed exclusively for racetrack driving and has different suspension, engine and cabin.
The automaker plans to launch a whole racing series for the owners of the car. The Dark Horse single-make cup is set to begin next year and comprise 12 events across 6 raceways in the USA.
On the exterior side of things, the Dark Horse R is nearly indistinguishable from the street-legal Dark Horse, but nuances give it away. These include red towing eyes, 19-inch wheels shod in Michelin tires, and a Borla performance exhaust. The interior is stripped clean and houses a roll cage.
The company claims the track-focused ‘Stang delivers more than 500 horsepower and benefits from oil and cooling improvements all around.
Prices start from U.S. $145,000. The first deliveries are penciled in for early 2024.
