Ford aspires to take the fight to Tesla Model Y

According to Ford CEO Jim Farley, the current slowdown of the EV market in some countries is a temporary phenomenon, and those who “play the long game” will be the winners when the landscape finally changes.

According to Carscoops quoting the Blue Oval executive, Ford’s response to the ongoing EV slump is to design a new, small and affordable electric vehicle capable of rivaling the Tesla Model Y. It is envisioned as a wallet-friendlier alternative to the company’s current Mustang Mach-E (see video) and may arrive in late 2027 or early 2028. This is an approximate timeframe, though, and it may be still too early for any technical details.

Aside from this, Ford plans to continue electrifying its entire lineup. For example, the company sees a hybrid Bronco as a capable potential rival to the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Just when one may arrive remains to be decided, of course.
